Fitness assessment is something that physical education teachers do not necessarily like to do so making the process of assessment easier is key. I personally set out to make a web based assessement tool in 2005. I realized that the technology was there so that schools could move away from having to install client side software and be able to access tools on the web or what we now refer to as the "cloud".

With much of my own personal time and the the help of occasional grants, I was able to develop software that is available at no cost to schools. The main ideas behind the product were ease of use, connectability, no cost offering and longitudinal data access.

Having been part of a $400,000 PEP Grant and recently receiving a $50,000 grant from the the J.R. Albert Foundation, we are now working on the third revision of the product that we hope will be used more widely as we offer better security, the ability to create your own assessments and the possiblitly for institutions to gather longitudinal data.

FitTrac has also been used as a tool individually to help groups measure kid fitness. Such groups include FORWARD, IAHPERD and the Statewide Assessment Grant.
