FORWARD

FORWARD ((Fighting Obesity Reaching healthy Weight Among Residents of DuPage) is a group that was formed through the DuPage County Health Department and has several medical doctors and health professionals who are looking to make a postivie impact on the obesity problem that is also affecting DuPage County.

I was asked to come to meetings with the group as a teacher and expert on reporting on fitness for children. over the last few years, we I developed a unique recording tool so that the group could collect BMI data. We uase a more specific formula developed by the Centers for Disease Control that was give to us that takes into account the age and sex of students as well as their height and weight. This gives us a more accurate BMI score than the standard way of taking BMI.

We will be collecting data in 2011-2012 for a third year in hopes of gathering a great sample.
