I have been working with the DuPage Regional Office of Education for several years. Initially, I was part of a $400,000 PEP grant that was awarded. Together with Illinois State University, University of Illinois, Urbana, and the Illinois Department of Health, we had collected student fitness data for both the FITNESSGRAM and Presidents Fitness Exam. I was charged with developing software to capture and store the data while also helping to instruct correct procedures for administering the different assessments. Over the course of three years, we were able to also develop new methods that were shared with many schools to help improve kid fitness in all students K-12.
Several years later I am working again with the ROE to further develop the recording progam dubbed FitTrac. I personally pursued and was awarded a $50,000 grant from the J.R. Albert Foundation to continue this work.
